Vinyl Lettering Application Instructions

Surface Preparation
Use a tape measure or a ruler to determine the exact area where the vinyl lettering or wall decal will be placed. We recommend drawing a light horizontal guide line or use small pieces of masking tape. Make sure the surface is clean and smooth. The vinyl will not adhere to stucco or brick like surfaces. Words can be cut apart and stacked in rows, put on an angle, or arranged around and on windows, doors or on most wallpaper. Taping them lightly in place first will help you plan your layout.

Prepare Quote
Some quotes will come in rolls because of the length. Unwrap the quote and let it set flat until it stops wanting to roll itself up. The quotes have a transfer tape (looks and feels like white masking tape) on one side and backing paper (white and shiny) on the other. Before peeling the back paper off, burnish (rub) the surface of transfer tape with an old credit card or gift card to insure the quote is adhered solidly to the transfer tape. (Letters may pull away from transfer tape during shipping)

Application
For smaller quotes, flip up the quote and carefully peel the backing paper away from the quote, which should remain on the transfer tape. The quotes can not be repositioned, so be careful to line them up where you want them. Place the taped quote on the pre-measured surface, using the lines to position the vinyl correctly onto the surface.

For larger/longer quotes, place tape in the middle of the quote on the top and bottom, making a hinge in the middle.  Remove the paper backing until you reach the taped middle, then cut the paper backing and apply the quote to the surface.  Once one side is complete, remove the paper backing from the other side and apply the quote to the surface.

Burnishing
Using an old credit card or gift card, carefully press any air bubbles out from underneath the words. Burnish again, apply more pressure over the entire area.

Transfer Tape Removal
Carefully and SLOWLY peel back the transfer tape. This will leave the vinyl on your surface. The vinyl used for this purpose is “removable” meaning it doesn’t have a lot of adhesive (kind of like Post-it notes) so that it can be removed from the surface without damaging the walls.  Therefore, sometimes, especially if the surface is not completely flat, it resists coming off of the paper backing and/or the application tape.  Take your time and be patient with it…once it is on the wall, it will look great and it will stay there until you pull it off.  Enjoy your new look and the inspiring words.
